Dogs in the library? Yup!

Reading Programs for Young Children

Reading Programs for Young Children

To instill a love of reading in children, dozens of programs have sprouted up around the country that have young children reading to dogs. The canine comfort melts the anxiety that sometimes thwarts progress with reading. Have a child who is scared of making mistakes?  Reading With Rover, Paws to Read, Sit. Stay. Read! are some of the programs where that self-consciousness vanishes with the loyal, encouraging comfort of the dog. Check with your local librarian for the hours of such a program in your area.
